CALCULATION OF REACTIVE POWER FACTOR CORRECTION bysamir maity -February 19, 2019 WHAT IS POWER FACTOR?:- Power Factor (PF) is the ratio between the active power (kW) and apparent power (kVA). Power Factor = KW/KVA = KW/√((kw)² + (kvar)²) = 1.0 Power Factor (PF): When current lags the voltage like in Inductive Loads, it is called Lagging Power Factor and whencurrent leads the voltage like in capacitive loads, it is called Leading Power Factor.Inductive Loads such as Induction motors, Transformers, Discharge lamp, etc. absorb comparatively more Lagging Reactive Power (KVAR) and hence, their Power Factor is Poor. Lower the Power Factor, electrical network is loaded with more current. It would be advisable to have highest Power Factor (≤1) so that network carries only active power which does realwork. PF improvement is done by installing capacitors near the load centers, which improvePower Factor from the point of installation back to the Generating Station. ALSO WE USED APFC(AUTOMATIC POWER FACTOR CORRECTION) PANEL. HOW TO CALCULATE NEEDED CAPACITOR KVAR FOR POWER FACTOR IMPROVEMENT:- Measure the current load in KW Measure the current power factor(COS Φ1) {COS Φ1 = Active Power / Reactive Power} And your Desired power factor(COS Φ2) Calculation Formula: Kvar = KW*(tan(cos-1(Φ1)) - tan(cos-1(Φ2))) POWER FACTOR MEASUREMENT A power analyzer can measure Power Factor directly, or alternately kWh, kVAh or kVArh readings are recorded from the billing meter installed at the incoming point of supply. The relation kWh /kVAh gives the power factor. Put your data in our android alpplication. DOWNLOAD & USED OUR POWER FACTOR CORRECTION APPLICATION->
