BASIC CONSTRUCTION OF CABLE


OUTER SHEATH/JACKET:-


  • Made of PVC, Rubber and same material as bedding.
  • It is provided over the Armour for overall mechanical, weather, electrical, chemical protection.

ARMOURING:-

  • There are mainly G.I  wire armouring and G.I steel strips.
  • To protect mechanical injuring during handling the cable.
  • Current caring conductor as well as used for earthing purpose of cable for safety.

BEDDING:- 


  • Consists of fiber, Jute or hessian tape.
  • To protect the metallic sheath  against the corrosion and mechanical injury due to armoring.

LEAD SHEATH/METALLIC SHEATH:-


  • It consists of load or aluminium over the insulation.
  • In order to protect the cable from moisture, Gases or damaging liquids, soil or atmosphere.

INSULATION:- 


  • Impregnated paper, varnish cambric or rubber mineral compound.
  • The thickness of insulation depends upon the voltage to be installed.

CORE:-


  • One or more than one conductor core.
  • Conductor made of tinned copper and aluminium.
